LACE STAR SNOWFLAKE

Easy Skill

 

Size:About 5" across

 

Materials: Size 10 Cotton Crochet Thread: White (W) - 15 yards.

 

Crochet Hook:Steel 7 (1.65 mm)

 

Abbreviations

beg - beginning
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
lp - loop
rem - remaining
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
st - stitch
tr - treble crochet
yo - yarn over

JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

 

Special Stitches

Beginning Cluster (beg-cl): Ch 3, keeping last lp of each st on hook, 2 dc in st or sp indicated.

Cluster (cl):Keeping last loop of each st on hook, work 3 dc in st or sp indicated, yo and pull through all loops on hook.

 

General Starching Directions

Cut a piece of cardboard larger than the article to be stiffened. Cover the cardboard with clear plastic wrap.  Lay the article on the plastic, stretch out and pin into the correct shape.  Generously spray with heavy spray starch. Allow to dry completely.  This method allows for washing and re-starching whenever necessary.

 

SNOWFLAKE

Rnd 1:(Right Side) Starting at center, with White, ch 8, sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 23 dc in ring; join with sl st to first dc.  DO NOT TURN EACH ROUND.

Rnd 2:Ch 8, * skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 7; rep from * around, end; sl st in first ch of beg ch-8.

Rnd 3:Ch 1, (4 sc, ch 3, 4 sc) in ea lp around; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 4:Sl st to next ch-3 sp, beg-cl, * ch 5, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, cl in same sp, ch 9, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 6, cl in next ch-3 sp; rep from * around; join with sl st to first cl. Finish off and weave in ends.

 

Finishing

- Starch into a star-shaped 5 inch circle using general starching directions.
