Easter Bunny Applique - FP218

 

Size: Bunny - about 5" tall

Materials: Sport Weight Yarn or Size 3 Crochet Thread

Small amounts of the following:

White (W); Hot Pink (HP); Pink (P)

 

Additional Materials:Yarn needle, Hot/Craft Glue, 7 mm Moveable Eyes (2)

Crochet Hook:Size F-5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge:  9 sts = 2 inches; 5 rows = 2 inches

 

Abbreviations

beg - beginning 

ch - chain

CC - contrasting color

dc - double crochet

hdc - half double crochet

lp - loop

MC - Main Color

rem - remaining

rep - repeat

rnd - round

sc - single crochet

sl st - slip stitch

sp - space

st - stitch

tr - treble crochet

yo - yarn over


JOINING WITH SC

When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

 

Special Stitches

Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec): Keeping last loop of each st on hook, dc in next 2 sts, yo and pull through 3 loops on hook.

 

HEAD

Rnd 1:(Right Side) Starting at center, with W, ch 3; 14 dc in 3rd ch from hook (skipped ch counts as first dc); join with sl st to first dc. (15 dc) DO NOT TURN.

First Ear:Ch 8, * sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch *, sl st in same st as Rnd 1 joining; sl st in next 2 dc of Rnd 1.  (Mark last sl st).

Second Ear:Ch 8, rep from * to * of First Ear, sl st in same st as marked sl st on Rnd 1, sl st in next 6 dc of Rnd 1. (Mark last sl st.)

DO NOT FINISH OFF.

 

BODY

Row 1:With right side facing, ch 2 (counts as first dc now and throughout), DO NOT TURN, 2 dc in same st as marked sl st of Second Ear, 3 dc in next dc. (6 dc)

Rows 2-3:Ch 2, turn, dc in first dc, (dc in next dc) across to last dc, 2 dc in last dc. (8, 10 dc)

Row 4:Ch 2, turn, (dc in next dc) across.

Row 5:Ch 2, turn, dc dec, (dc in next dc) across to last 2 dc, dc dec. (8 dc) Finish off and weave in ends.

 

Finishing - USE PHOTO AS A GUIDE

Neck Bow- With HP, ch 40, finish off and weave in ends. Tie in bow around neck of Bunny.

Tail- With P, ch 1 (center ch), (ch 2, sl st in center ch) 5 times. Finish off leaving long end. Using long end, sew Tail to lower right side of Bunny.

Nose- With P, embroider a French Knot in center of Head.

French Knot:

Bring threaded needle up from wrong to right side of work at A. Wrap yarn twice around needle. Tighten the twists and insert needle again at A. Pull needle with firm even pressure until the yarn slides through the wrapped yarn, making a knot that lies on the right side as shown below.

Eyes- Position and sew (or glue) 7mm Eyes in place.
