Easter Basket Appliqué

Skill Level: Easy Skill
Size: Basket – about 3½” tall
Materials: Sport Weight Yarn
Small amounts of the following: Beige (B); Purple (Pp), Orange (O); Turquoise (T);
Additional Materials: Yarn needle; Hot/Craft Glue
Crochet Hook: Size F-5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 9 sts = 2 inches; 5 rows = 2 inches

Special Stitches
Single Crochet Decrease: (sc dec): Draw up a lp in each of next 2 sts, yo and draw through 3 lps on hook.
Front Post Raised Double Crochet: (FPdc): YO, insert hook in front of work from right to left around next dc of two rows previous, YO, pull up a lp, (YO, pull through 2 lps) twice.
Note: When FPdc is worked, do not work st directly behind st. Skip this st and work in the next st.
BASKET
Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at top, with B, ch 13; dc in 3rd ch from hook, (dc in next ch) across. (11 dc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each dc across. (11 sc)
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, * FPdc around next dc (of Row 1), dc in next sc (of Row 2); rep from * across.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc dec, (sc in next dc) across to last 2 dc, sc dec. (9 sc)
Row 5: Ch 2, turn, [dc in next sc (of Row 4), FPdc in next dc (of Row 3)] 3 times, dc in last 2 sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
Handle
Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at long edge, with B, ch 16, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, (2 sc in next ch, sc in next 2 ch) 4 times, sc in last ch. (19 sc) Finish off and weave in ends.
EGGS (Make 3 – 1 Pp, 1 O, 1 T)
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting in center, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, (sc, ch 1, sc) in last ch; working on other side of chain, sc in next 2 ch; join with sl st to first sc. Finish off leaving long end.
Finishing USE PHOTO AS A GUIDE
- Using long ends, sew Eggs behind upper rim of Basket.
- Sew ends of Handle to either side of Basket.
