JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.

PONCHO
Rnd 1:(Right Side) Starting at neck, ch 32; taking care not to twist ch, join with sl st in first ch to form ring; ch 5 (counts as first dc and ch-2, now and throughout), 3 dc in same ch as joining, ch 1, skip next 3 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 3 ch, * shell in next ch, ch 1, skip next 3 ch, 3 dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next 3 ch; rep from * twice more; 2 dc in first ch worked; join with sl st to first dc. (36 dc)
Rnd 2:Sl st in ch-2 sp, ch 5, 3 dc in same sp, ch 1, [3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1] twice, * shell in next shell, ch 1, [3 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1] twice; rep from * twice more; 2 dc in first ch-2 sp; join with sl st to first dc. (48 dc)
Rnd 3:Sl st in ch-2 sp, ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 1), [3 dc, ch 1] in next 3 ch-1 sps, shell in shell, ch 1; [3 dc, ch 1] in next 3 ch-1 sps, 3 dc in next shell, ch 1, [3 dc, ch 1] in next 3 ch-1 sps, shell in shell, ch 1, [3 dc, ch 1] in next 3 ch-1 sps; 2 dc in first sp; join with sl st to first dc. Rnds 4-8:Sl st in ch-1 sp, ch 4, [3 dc, ch 1] in each ch-1 sp around working [shell in shell, ch 1] in each shell. (60, 66, 72, 78, 84 dc)
At the end of Rnd 8, Finish off and weave in ends.
Neck Edging
Rnd 1:With right side facing, working in foundation ch on other side, join White with sc to any ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 1, sc in next base of shell, * [ch 1, sc] twice in next ch-3 sp, sc in next base of shell; rep from * around; join with sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2:Sl st to ch-1 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 3, * sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3; rep from * around; join. Finish off and weave in ends.
Drawstring
With White, ch 125. Finish off and weave in ends.
- Weave Drawstring through Rnd 1 of Neck Edging and tie in bow at front.
