VALENTINE FLOWER

Size: About 8½" circumference.
Materials: Premier® Yarns - Deborah Norville Collection – Everyday® Soft Worsted Weight – used in model.
Worsted Weight Yarn :

Peony – 2yds
Baby Pink – 8yds
Valentine – 50yds
Abbreviations

ch - chain
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet

Additional Materials: Yarn Needle.
Crochet Hooks: Size I-9 (5.50 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: With I-hook – 6sc = 2".
JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
Special Stitches
Popcorn (pc): Work 4 dc in same st or sp indicated, drop lp from hook, insert hook front to back in first dc made, pull dropped lp through.
FLOWER
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at center, with Peony, ch4, join with slst to first ch to form ring; 8sc in ring; join with slst to first sc. (8sc) Finish off and weave in ends.
Rnd 2: With right side facing, join Baby Pink with slst to any sc, ch3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), 3dc in same st as joining, drop lp from hook, insert hook front to back in first dc (3rd ch of ch-3), pull dropped lp through (first pc made), ch3, [pc in next sc, ch3] around; join with slst to first pc. (8pc & 8ch-3sps) Finish off and weave in ends.
PETALS
Rnd 3: With right side facing, join Valentine with sc to any ch-3sp, ch1, [(2sc, ch12, 2sc) in next ch-3sp, ch1] around, ending with (2sc, ch12, sc) in first ch-3sp; join with slst to first sc. (24sc, 8ch-1sps & 8 ch-12lps)
Rnd 4: Slst in next ch-1sp, [(5hdc, 5dc, ch2, 5dc, 5hdc) in next ch-12lp, slst in next ch-1sp] around. (8 petals)
Rnd 5: [Ch1, slst in next st] around. Finish off and weave in ends.
