Size: Placemat:12-1/2" x 19";
Napkin Ring:6" around.
Materials:Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn;
Gold (MC) - 4 oz, 192 yd (112 g, 173 m);
White (CC) - 1 oz, 48 yd (28 g, 43 m);
Yarn Needle.
Crochet Hook:Size G-6 (4.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 5-dc group = 1" tall x 1" wide.

JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
Special Stitches
Cluster (Cl):Keep last lp of each st on hook, dc in next 5 sts, yo and draw through all 6 lps on hook.
Shell Placemat
Row 1:With MC, ch 44, sc in 2nd ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across. (7 5-dc groups)
Row 2:Ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), turn, keeping last lp of each st on hook, dc in next 2 sts, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook, ch 2, sc in next dc, ch 2, (cl, ch 2, sc in next dc, ch 2) across to last 3 sts, keeping last lp of each st on hook, dc in next 3 sts, yo and draw through all 4 lps on hook. (6 cls)
Row 3:Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, (5 dc in next sc, skip next 2 ch, sc in next st) across. (7 5-dc groups) Finish off and weave in ends.
Rows 4-5:With CC, rep Rows 2-3.
Rows 6-29:With MC, rep Rows 2-3.
Rows 30-31:With CC, rep Rows 2-3.
Rows 32-34:With MC, rep Rows 2-3 once (do not finish off), then rep Row 2 once more.
At the end of Row 34, do not finish off.
Edging
Rnd 1:Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in first st, 41 sc across to last st, 3 sc in last st, *working in ends of rows; work 59 sc evenly spaced across *, working in unused lps of starting chain, 3 sc in first ch, 41 sc across to last ch, 3 sc in last ch, rep from * to *; join with sl st to first sc. (212 sc)
Rnd 2:Ch 1, sc in same st as joining, 5 dc in next sc, sc in next sc, *(skip next 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip next 2 sts, sc in next st) 7 times; working over corner 3-sc, sc in next st, 5 dc in next st, sc in next st; (skip next 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, skip next 2 sts, sc in next st) 10 times; working over corner 3-sc, sc in next st, 5 dc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * once more omitting last corner; join with sl st to first sc. (38 5-dc groups) Finish off and weave in ends.
Napkin Ring
Rnd 1 (Right Side):With MC, ch 18, being careful not to twist chain, sl st in first ch to form ring; sc in same ch as joining, skip 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, skip 2 ch, (sc in next ch, skip 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, skip 2 ch) twice; join with sl st to first sc. (3 5-dc groups) Finish off and weave in ends.
Rnd 2:With right side facing, join CC with sc to center dc of any 5-dc group, ch 2, cl, ch 2, (sc in next dc, ch 2, cl, ch 2) twice; join with sl st to first sc. (3 cls) Finish off and weave in ends.
Rnd 3:Join MC with sl st to any sc, ch 3, 4 dc in same st as joining, sc in next cl, (5 dc in next sc, sc in next cl) twice; join with sl st in to first dc. (3 5-dc groups) Finish off and weave in ends.
