MILE-A-MINUTE BABY DOLL AFGHAN

Easy Skill


Size: approx. 8" x 12"


Materials: Sport Weight Yarn: White (W) and Peach (P)  1 oz each 
Yarn Needle.


Crochet Hook: Size F-5 (3.75 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge. 


Gauge: Each Strip = 2 wide x 12 long
 


Abbreviations
beg - beginning

ch - chain
dc - double crochet
lp - loop
rep - repeat
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
st - stitch
yo - yarn over


JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.


TO CHANGE COLORS
 Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color, yo hook, pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.

 

Special Stitches
Shell:
 (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same st or sp indicated.


STRIPS (Make 4)
Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at bottom, with W, ch 9, Shell in 6th ch from hook; skip next 2 ch, ch 3, sl st in last ch.
Row 2: Working in starting ch on other side, ch 3 (counts as first dc now and throughout), Shell in same ch opposite Shell, skip next 2 ch, dc in next ch.
Rows 3-23: Ch 3, turn, Shell in Shell, dc in last dc. (8 dc)
At the end of Row 23, finish off W and weave in ends.

Strip Border
Rnd 1:
 With right side facing, join P with sl st to first dc on any end Shell, ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, 3 dc in ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc, 3 dc over each dc along side of rows; working across opposite end Shell, dc in next 3 dc, 3 dc in ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc, 3 dc over each dc along opposite side; join with sl st to first dc. Finish off leaving 18" long end for sewing strips together.


Finishing
With right sides facing and with Shells facing the same direction, matching stitches and working through back loops only, sew sides of strips together. (The 9 dc across top and bottom Shells are left unsewn.)
