Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn –
Small amounts of Blue (MC), White (W) and Red (R),
Yarn Needle.
Crochet Hook:Size G or size needed for gauge.
Gauge:6 sc = 1 ½" and 4 rows = 2"

Joining With a Sc
When instructed to join with sc, begin with a slip knot on hook. Insert hook in stitch or space indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both lps on hook.
Directions
Row 1 (right side): With MC ch 7, sc in each st. (6 sc)
Rows 2-30:Working in BL only, ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (6 sc)
Row 31:Working in both loops, ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sc, (leave remaining sts unworked). (2 sc)
Rows 32-50:Ch 1, turn, sc in both sts. (2 sc)
At the end of Row 50, finish off and weave in ends.
Row 31:With right side facing, join W with a sc in the next unworked st of Row 30, sc in next st, leave the remaining 2 sts unworked, ch 1, turn; rep Rows 32 – 50.
Row 31:With right side facing, join R with a sc in the next unworked st of Row 30, sc in next st, ch 1, turn; rep Rows 32 – 50.
Being careful not to twist the strips, braid them loosely, (HINT: Use a paper clip to hold the braid straight until you crochet the next row).
Row 51:With right side facing, join MC with a sc in first of first small strip, sc in next sc, 2 sc in each strip across. (6 sc)
Rows 54- 62:Ch 1 turn, working in BL only, sc in each st across. Do less or more rows according to head size.At the end of Row 62, finish off leaving long end. Using long ends, sew short sides of strip together.
