Christmas Stockings

Size: About 19" long and 7" wide.
Materials
Premier® Yarns - Deborah Norville Collection – Serenity® Chunky Weight – used in model.
Bulky Weight Yarn :
Main Color (MC) – 3.5oz, 109yd, (100g, 100m)
Contrasting Color (CC) – 3.5oz, 109yd, (100g, 100m)
Applique – Small Amounts of colors needed.
Yarn Needle
Colors used in models: Berry Burst & Pristine, Chocolate (tree stem) and Pristine & Chocolate, After Dark (tree)
Crochet Hook: Deborah Norville size L-11 (8.00 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 5 Rnds dc = 4", 10 dc = 4”.
Abbreviations
beg = beginning
CC = contrasting color
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
lp(s) = loop(s)
MC = main color
rem = remaining
rep = repeat
rnd = round
sc = single crochet(s)
sp(s) = space(s)
slst(s) = slip stitch(es)
st(s) = stitch(es)
tr = treble crochet
yo = yarn over
STOCKING
Rnd 1: (Right Side) Starting at toe end, with MC, ch4; join with slst to first ch to form ring; ch1, 12dc in ring; join with slst to first dc. (12dc)
DO NOT TURN EACH ROUND.
Rnd 2: Ch1, [2dc in each dc] around; join with slst in first dc (join all dc rnds in this manner). (24dc)
Rnd 3: Ch1,2dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 dc, [2dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc] 7 times; join. (32dc)
Rnds 4-9: Ch1, [dc in each dc] around; join. (32dc)
Rnd 10: Ch1, dc in next 20 dc, ch12 loosely, skip next 12 dc (heel opening), join. (20dc & ch12)
Rnd 11: Ch1, dc in next 20 dc, dc in each of next 12 ch; join. (32dc)
Rnds 12-21: Ch1, [dc in next dc] around; join. (32dc)
Rnd 22: Ch1, dc in each of next 31 dc, dc in last dc (mark this dc for Cuff joining); join. (32dc) Finish off and weave in ends.
Cuff
Rnd 23: With wrong side facing, join CC with slst to marked dc on Rnd 22, ch1, dc in same st as joining (mark this dc for Hanger), [dc in next dc] around; join. (32dc)
Rnds 24-28: Ch1, [dc in next dc] around; join. (32dc) Finish off and weave in ends.
Heel
Rnd 1: With right side facing, working around heel opening in skipped dc of Row 10, skip first 6 dc, join CC with slst to next dc, ch3, dc in next 4 dc, sc in last dc, sc over post of first dc on Row 10; working in unused lps on other side of ch, sc in first ch, dc in each of next 10 ch, sc in last ch, sc over post of last dc on Row 10, working in skipped dc on Row 10, sc in first dc, dc in next 5 dc; join with slst to first dc (3rd ch of ch-3). (6sc & 20dc)
Rnd 2: Ch3, dc in next 4 dc, sc in next 3 sc, dc in next 10 dc, sc in next 3 sc, dc in last 5 dc; join. (6sc & 20dc)
Rnd 3: Ch3, dc in next 3 dc, sc in next dc, skdec (using next 3 sc), sc in next dc, dc in next 8 dc, sc in next dc, skdec, sc in next dc, dc in last 4 dc; join. (6sc & 16dc)
Rnd 4: Ch3, dc in next 2 dc, sc in next dc, skdec, sc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc, sc in next dc, skdec, sc in next dc, dc in last 3 dc; join. (6sc & 12dc) finish off leaving long end.
Turn stocking inside out. With wrong side facing, lay Stocking flat. Using long end and yarn needle, sew heel opening closed.
APPLIQUÉ
Tree
Row 1: (Right Side) Starting at top, using Tree color, ch5, sc in 5th ch from hook. (1sc)
Row 2: Ch5, turn, 2sc in next sc. (2sc)
Row 3: Ch5, turn, 2sc in first sc, sc in last sc. (3sc)
Rows 4-5: Ch5, turn, 2sc in first sc, [sc in next sc] across to end.
Row 6: Ch5, turn, sc in each sc across to last sc, (sc, slst) in last sc. (6sc) Finish off leaving long end.
Stem
Row 1: With right side of Row 6 facing, skip first 2 sc, join Stem Color with sc in next sc, sc in next sc. (2sc)
Row 2: Ch1, turn, 2sc in first sc, sc in next sc. (3sc)
Row 3: Ch1, turn, sc in each sc across. (3sc) finish off leaving long end.
Using long ends and yarn needle, position and sew Applique to front of Stocking.
HANGER
With right side of Stocking facing, fold Cuff over. Join MC with slst to marked st on Cuff Rnd 23, ch12, join with slst to same marked st. Finish off and weave in ends.
