ROSE BROOM DOLL

FINISHED SIZE: Approximately 12" tall.
Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn -3 ozs White (W); 26 yds Pink (P); 11 yds Green (G)
Pine Broom12" flat dried with 3-1/2" handle;
Curly Hair: small amount; Polyester Fiberfill; small bouquet of Silk Flowers with stems; White Ribbon - 1/8" wide x 20" long
Additional Materials Needed:
Craft or Hot Glue and Large Sewing Needle
G Hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
GAUGE: 4 dc and 2 rows = 1"

beg - beginning
BLO - Back Loop Only
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
lp - loop
rnd - round
sc - single crochet

SPECIAL STITCHES
sc dec: draw up a lp in next 2 sts, YO and draw through 3 lps on hook
increase: work 2 dc in same st.
DRESS
Rnd 1(right side): Leaving 9" end for gathering, starting at top, with W, ch 24, being careful not to twist chains sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3 (counts as dc now and throughout), dc in each ch around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg of ch-3 (join all dc rnds in this manner). (24 dc)
Rnd 2:Ch 3, dc in each st around, join.
Rnd 3-14: Ch 3, increasing 4 dc evenly spaced dc in each st around.
At the end of Rnd 14 there will be 72 dc. Fasten off.
Rnd 15:Right Side Facing join P in any st, ch 1, sc in same st, ch 3, skip next st, (sc in next st, ch 3, skip next st) around; join with sl st in first sc. (36 ch-3 lps) Fasten off.
Sleeve (Make 1)
Rnd 1 (right side): With W, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring; join. (12 dc)
Rnd 2:Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st) around; join. (18 dc)
Rnds 3-5:Ch 3, dc in each st around; join. (18 dc)
Rnd 6:Ch 1, sc dec 9 times, join with sl st in first sc. (9 sc)
Rnd 7:Ch 1, sc in each st around. (9 sc)
Rnd 8:Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, (2 dc in next st, 3 dc in next st) around; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (22 dc) Fasten off and weave in ends.
Rnd 9:Rep Rnd 15 of Dress. (11 ch-3 lps)
BONNET
Rnd 1 (right side): With W, ch 4, sl st in first ch to from ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (12 dc)
Rnd 2:(Ch 3, dc) in first st, 2 dc in each st around; join. (24 dc)
Rnd 3:(Ch 3, dc) in first st, dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st) around; join. (36 dc)
Rnd 4:(Ch 3, dc) in first st, dc in next 2 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts) around; join. (48 dc)
Rnd 5:(Ch 3, dc) in first st, dc in next 3 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts) around; join. (60 dc)
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each st around; join. (60 dc)
Rnd 7:Ch 1, sc dec 30 times; join. (30 sc)
Rnd 8:Ch 1, sc in each st around; join. (30 sc)
Rnd 9:(Ch 3, dc) in first st, 2 dc in each st around; join. (60 dc)
Rnds 10-11:Ch 3, dc in each st around; join. (60 dc)
Fasten off at the end of Rnd 11.
Rnd 12:Rep Dress Rnd 15. (30 ch-3 lps)
ROSES (Make 5)
With P, ch 6, (4 sc, sl st) in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Curl into shape of Rose.
LEAF TRIM FOR DRESS
With G, * ch 15, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in next ch (leaf made); rep from * twice more, ch 10, working back along chains and working in 2 lps of ch; sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next 8 ch, ** sl st in next ch (same ch used for opposite leaf), (ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in next ch, sl st) in same ch (leaf made), sl st in next 10 ch; rep from ** twice more. (3 leaf groups) Fasten off and weave in ends.
LEAF TRIM HAT
With G, * ch 15, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in next ch; rep from * once more, ch 10, working back along ch and working in 2 lps of ch; sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next 8 ch, ** sl st in next ch (same ch used for opposite leaf), (ch, 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in next ch, sl st) in same ch, sl st in next 10 ch; rep from ** once more. (2 leaf groups) Fasten off and weave in ends.
FINISHING
Insert broom handle up through top opening of Dress. Weave 9" end through unused lps of starting ch, gather to fit around handle. Secure. Smooth and flatten Dress to shape of broom.
Stuff Rnds 1-5 of Sleeve. Sew at an angle slanting left over Rnds 3-9 of Dress. Sew Stems of silk flowers to inside lower edge of Sleeve opening.
Glue a small amount of Fiberfill to top right of broom handle to shape head. Glue Curly Hair about 1-1/2" down from top of handle with short curls at the top and the longer curls cascading down back of Dress above Sleeve. Place Bonnet at a right angle on top of handle. Glue Leaf Trim and Roses to Dress and Bonnet.
For Hanger, thread 1/8" Ribbon around three stitches on Rnd 1 of Dress at back of broom and out top of Bonnet. Tie ends in knot.
