HEART COASTER

Easy Skill
Size: 5" square
Materials: 100% Cotton Worsted Weight Yarn
Pink – 15 yds
White – 10 yds
Crochet Hook: Size G-6 (4.25 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 4 sc Rows = 1" and 5 sc sts = 1 ½"
Abbreviations
ch - chain
lp - loop
rep - repeat
yo - yarn over
rnd - round
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
st - stitch
JOINING WITH SC
When instructed to join with sc, begin with sl knot on hook, insert hook in st or sp indicated, yo and pull up a loop, yo and draw through both loops on hook.
TO CHANGE COLORS
Work last stitch before color change to last step, with new color, yo hook, pull new color through remaining lps on hook. Drop unused color to wrong side. Do not work over unused color.
COASTER
Row 1: (Right Side): With P, ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (13 sc)
CH 1, TURN EACH ROW.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. (13 sc)
Row 3: Sc in next 6 sc, change to W; with W, sc in next sc, change to P; with P, sc in next 6 sc.
Row 4-11: Sc in each st across following chart.
After Row 11, finish off White.
Rows 12-13: Sc in each sc across.
At the end of Row 13, do not turn.
EDGING
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 3 sc in last sc of Row 13, * work 11 sc evenly spaced along sides of Rows * , working in unused lps of starting ch, 3 sc in first lp, sc in next 11 lps, 3 sc in last lp; rep from * to * once more, 3 sc in first sc of Row 13, sc in next 11 sc, join with sl st to first sc. Finish off.
Rnd 2: With right side facing, join W with a sc to the center sc of any corner, ch 1, (sc ch 3, sc) in same st, * ch 3, skip next sc, (sc in next sc, ch 3, skip next sc) six times to next corner, (sc ch 3, sc) in next corner; rep from * around to last corner; join with sl st to 1st sc, finish off and weave in ends.
